The incident took place at around 3.30am on New Year’s Day on High Street.

The victim, a 29-year-old man from the Shotley area of Suffolk, was walking with his girlfriend and another woman in an alleyway between High Street and New Street when three men approached them and engaged them in conversation.

As they entered High Street, one of the men punched the victim.

He then fell to the ground and all three men assaulted him.

As a result the man suffered swelling to his face and lips as well as cuts to his ears and arms and bruising to his ribs and legs.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers want to identify and speak to the three men pictured. We appreciate they are not the clearest images but hope someone will be able to identify them.”
