Essex Police want to talk with 23-year-old Robert Davanzo in connection with a burglary which took place on January 5.
The incident took place off Maltings Lane at 11.15am.
Two men are said to have broken into the address and carried out a messy search of the property.
Cash, jewellery and electrical items were stolen.
A police spokesperson said: “A passerby who noticed the suspicious activity was threatened with bottle of liquid as the suspects left the building and then drove off.”
Davanzo is described as being 6 foot and has links to Halstead, Felsted and Braintree.
