POLICE are concerned for the welfare of a 19-year-old man who has gone missing from his home in Suffolk.

POLICE are concerned for the welfare of a teenager who has gone missing from his home in Suffolk.

Daniel Hannant, 19, went to the British Legion club in Blackmill Road, Southwold, with some friends last night.

The group left the club together at about 11.30pm but shortly after leaving, Mr Hannant became separated from his friends as they walked towards the neighbouring village of Reydon and he has not been seen since.

When he did not return to his home in Reydon, his family reported him missing and police carried out an extensive search across the area all day today.

The Suffolk police helicopter and officers on the ground with a sniffer dog were used to search the beach and dunes, as well as the marsh area between Southwold and Reydon, this afternoon, but Mr Hannant was not found.

The search was called off as darkness fell and will resume this morning.

His worried family have already put up posters showing a photograph of Mr Hannant in some shops windows in Southwold.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said tonight: “Daniel went out drinking with some friends on Saturday night and was somehow separated from them at about 11.30pm.

“Police officers searched in cars and on foot but could not see any sign of him, so they alerted the helicopter to look over the marshes where they were unable to go.

“The road out of Southwold to Reydon has marsh land beside it, so it was thought that he might have wandered out onto the marsh.

“Unfortunately the helicopter did not find anything, so we are no further forward.

“We do not know at this stage whether anything untoward has happened, but his family are obviously very concerned.”

Anyone who has seen Daniel Hannant should contact Suffolk police on 01473 613500.
