A serving British Transport Police officer has been found not guilty of assault by beating following a court hearing in Colchester.
Pc Mohinder Sandhu, who is based at BTP’s Central London Police Station, was charged with common assault in connection to an incident on January 21 last year in Colchester.
An investigation was then conducted by Essex Police and the hearing took place at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on December 13.
Pc Sandhu was placed on restricted duties during the course of the investigation.
The force is now reviewing the current restrictions in place and whether there have been any potential breaches of the code of ethics or the standards of professional behaviour.
Mr Sandhu was charged with assault in March of 2018 and originally appeared at magistrates’ court on May 1 last year.
The BTP polices trains and railway tracks across the country and is mostly funded by private rail companies.
