An elderly victim, who is partially sighted, was befriended by a man in a local pub in the town. The male claimed he used to know the elderly woman, who is aged in her 70s.

He visited her in her flat where she gave him some money to buy some cigarettes for her.

At some point during this visit it is believed he stole around £300 in coins from a whiskey bottle that she had saved in her lounge.
