POLICE have today been searching rivers and marshland around Southwold for a missing teenager who has not been seen since Saturday night.

Daniel Hannant, 19, went to the British Legion Club in Southwold with some friends on Saturday night. The group left together at about 11.30pm but, shortly after leaving, Mr Hannant became separated as they walked towards the neighbouring village of Reydon and he has not been seen since.

Police carried out an extensive search of the area on Sunday and officers have today been continuing their efforts to locate Mr Hannant.

Sgt Kevin Howell said: “We have had the harbour master out in his boat this morning searching up and down the river, but that has now finished and there has been no news.

“We are looking to get the lowland search and rescue team up and running for about 4pm so they can get out and search as well. I've also spoken to the crew of the force helicopter and they will be making another flight over the areas which they have already covered to check that they have not missed anything.

“We are also looking into activity on Mr Hannant's mobile phone and bank account - that is continuing but at the moment has not shown up anything significant.

“We are appealing for anyone who knows anything about Mr Hannant's whereabouts to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact Suffolk police 01473 613500.
