A police helicopter was involved in a search which continues this morning for a motorist involved in a single-vehicle crash in Suffolk last night.

Officers were called to reports a car had gone into a ditch off the A1071 near Hintlesham Hall at 10.16pm on Sunday but when they arrived there was no-one inside.

A police helicopter and the police dog unit were involved in the search for the driver, who police want to trace.

There were no reports of any serious injuries at the scene.

This morning, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman confirmed the search for the driver remains ongoing.

Witnesses to the crash and anyone with information should call police on 101.
