Shortly after 9am a tree fell on a car in Shetland Close, Ipswich. No one was injured.
Ms Cowan said: “At 9.30am a tree fell across the A12 at Stratford St Mary. We are moving the tree and closing one of the northbound lanes of the road.”
At 9.37am there was a report of a tree fallen across the A1156 Bridge Street, Levington.
Similar incidents were also reported at Gazeley, Herringswell and Lowestoft.
Star weather man ken blowers said gusts were reaching from 35 to 40mph with coastal areas reporting winds of 45mph.
He added: “The trees are in full leaf and the wind is enough to bring some down.”
Mr Blowers said the fresh north-easterly wind will continue throughout the day with more rain predicated tonight.
