FIREFIGHTERS were called in to help a pony after it fell into a swimming pool today.
The unfortunate animal tumbled into its owner's covered pool in Watling Street, Thaxted just after 9am this morning.
Fire crews from Thaxted, Dunmow and Harlow attended the scene and helped the pony get back on its feet.
Firefighter Matt Goullee said: “The 35 year old 'rescue' pony had some how managed to fall into the owner's swimming pool which was full of water and had the cover on.
"When fire crews arrived the pony had climbed out of the pool and was in some distress after its ordeal and was lying by the poolside.
“Firefighters got the pony up on its feet and walked it back 200m to its stable. Once in the stable it had started to eat and was waiting to be checked over by the vet.”
