A new pop-up café has opened at St Peter’s, in Sudbury town centre.
It is run by Sudbury social enterprise The Bridge Project, and serves drinks, cakes and light lunches.
The cafe will also provide work experience for Bridge Project clients, some of who are disadvantaged adults, and will be open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 2pm.
Café manager, Jo Searle, said: “I have been very surprised by the number of customers, so far. It looks good for the future.”
The opening of the café was supported by St Peter’s volunteers who make up the team who work to ensure that the doors of St Peter’s remain open to the public and that every event runs smoothly and safely.
Giant beanbags and children’s toys have also been purchased with funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund to make the cafe more colourful and appealing to families and young people.
Chair of the Friends of St. Peter’s, Oliver Forder, said: “This is an excellent example of two local charities working together for the benefit of the Sudbury community.”
