FELIXSTOWE: Elderly people at a Felixstowe day centre were given a surprise gift, courtesy of the port.

The luxury boxes of Suffolk-produced food were given to the users of the Queens Road centre.

Head of corporate affairs at the port, Paul Davey said: “The boxes are produced for people who attend our annual community reception, but we always have about 30 left over because some people are unable to come along on the night.

“We decided it would be nice to give the boxes to some deserving people in the community and as the elderly have had a tough winter with the cold weather and rising heating bills, we thought it would be a nice treat.”
