A POST mortem examination has this afternoon been carried out on a woman who died after being found with stab wounds at her home in Bury St Edmunds.

An armed response team and other police officers were dispatched to Bull Rush Crescent in Bury St Edmunds at about 2.45am today after the force got reports of a disturbance.

They arrived to find a woman in her 30s with stab wounds. She was taken to West Suffolk Hospital but died a short time later.

This afternoon police efforts have continued to find next of kin so that formal identification can be carried out. The coroner's office has been informed and a post mortem examination carried out.

A murder investigation has been started by the police and 40-year-old man was arrested at 3.32am at a separate address in Bockhill Road.
