A POST-MORTEM examination is due to take place this afternoon on the body of a man murdered in Norwich.

Norfolk Police are still investigating the murder of 45 year old Frank McGarahan, who sustained a fatal injury while queuing for a taxi in the city's Guildhall Hill.

The results of the post-mortem are not expected until late this evening or tomorrow.

Mr McGarahan was spending the evening with family and friends ahead of a family christening on Sunday.

Officers are continuing to review CCTV footage from around the city centre area and are following up a number of very positive and encouraging lines of enquiry.

Detective Superintendent Chris Hobley said:

“Norwich City Centre is generally a safe place with dedicated patrols specifically targeted to police the night-time entertainment areas. We work very closely with the licensed premises to ensure that the public have a safe evening out in Norwich.

“The area was busy at the time of the incident and we are still very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen something or has any information.”
