A POWER cut has hit thousands of Ipswich homes today.
More than 2,000 homes were affected by the problem, but most had their power restored within minutes.
A spokeswoman for EDF Energy said: “Power was interrupted to 2,185 customers in the Ipswich area at 3.05pm, after a fault occurred on an underground cable on our network.
“EDF Energy Networks engineers restored power to 1,492 customers within one minute, and to a further five customers by 3.10pm.
“We are working as fast as is safely possible to restore supplies to the 688 customers in central Ipswich, whose properties remain affected.
“We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
