A SUFFOLK school is closed today following a power cut.

A SUFFOLK school is closed today following a power cut.

Students at Stowupland School were told lessons will not be held until the power supply is restored.

Mike Hill, assistant headteacher at the school, said it is unclear how long the school will be closed for.

A spokeswoman for EDF Energy said power was interrupted to around 1,600 customers in Stowmarket and Stowupland at 5.41am after a fault on a high voltage electricity network.

She said: “EDF Energy Networks engineers restored supplies to 548 customers at 7.50am and staff are on site working to reconnect the remaining supplies as swiftly as is safely possible.

“We do understand the inconvenience caused and apologise to anyone affected.”
