A PREMIER League footballer appeared in court today and denied that he assaulted his sister.

West Ham United defender Calum Davenport is accused of causing actual bodily harm to Cara Davenport, 28, on August 22 in an incident which later saw him stabbed in both legs.

The 27-year-old, who has also played for Norwich City, pleaded not guilty to the offence today at Luton Crown Court.

He is due to stand trial at the same court on August 2 and was released on bail on condition he does not communicate with his sister.
