Eight properties in Haverhill had to be evacuated last night after a fire caused damaged to a gas main.
Two fire crews were called out following reports of bins on fire in Chainey Pieces, which was affected the side of one property, at about 9.35pm.
After discovering the blaze had damaged a gas main, National Grid Gas was called to isolate the problem and make the scene safe.
Police were also called to temporarily evacuate eight properties while the incident was dealt with.
The crews were back at their base by 1.03am.
