POLICE have appealed to prostitutes working in Ipswich to stay off the streets.

The force's Assistant Chief Constable also made a direct appeal to vice girls to contact her if they have any information that can help the inquiry into the murders of three prostitutes from the town.

ACC Jacqui Cheer said it was unsafe for prostitutes to work in the town's red-light district.

“If you are out there alone, you are putting yourself in danger,” she told a press conference at the force's headquarters in Martlesham Heath.

She asked any prostitutes who have any information that may be useful to the inquiry to call 07764 210572 and to ask to speak to her.
