TOP Suffolk radio broadcaster Mark Murphy is to join the judging panel of an exciting new photography competition.

The “Hear Suffolk” Photography Competition, created by The Hearing Care Centre and supported by the EADT, is inviting keen photographers capture the quintessential sounds of Suffolk music, and at the same time help raise awareness about hearing loss.

Mark, who presents the Breakfast Show for BBC Radio Suffolk, is a lover of photography and also has a real passion for both music and of course the county.

The judging panel also includes Andy Abbott, Photographic Editor of the East Anglian Daily Times and Barry Freeman, chairman of Ipswich & District Photographic Society and Karen Finch, managing director of The Hearing Care Centre.

Amateur photographers from across Suffolk are invited to enter the competition with images which demonstrate the ‘Sounds of Music’ in Suffolk, that may not be heard by those with hearing loss

“It could be a rock band at Hachfest, a Church Choir at Sunday service, or a busker in Woodbridge - the choice of photo opportunities is endless,” said Karen.

“In fact any picture which depicts the quintessential sounds of Suffolk music in a powerful way would be ideal. We’ve already had some fantastic entries taken at events such as Ipswich Music Day, and we are hoping for many more to follow!” she said.

There’s a prize of 250 for the best picture and in a special class for entrants who are under 14 there’ll be a prize of 100. The runners up will also get cash prizes and the best pictures will be displayed in a special feature inside the EADT and on the EADT website.

To enter the competition, send your picture as an A4 print (in colour or black and white) to Photographic Competition, The Hearing Care Centre, 5 High Street, Ipswich, IP1 3JZ.

Make sure write your name, address, contact number, location of the photo, and age (junior category only) on a label on the back of the print. If you want your picture returned, please enclose a suitable stamped and self-addressed envelope.
