POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery at a jewellers shop in Frinton where robbers made off with a haul worth more than 20,000.

Two men, one white and one black, entered the Connaught Avenue shop wearing balaclavas at around 11am today.

They threatened the two female members of staff and stole jewellery, including a second hand Cartier watch and a diamond solitaire ring both worth over 6,000 each.

The men left the scene on foot although detectives believe they may then have got into a vehicle.

The first is described as black, aged in his mid to early 20s, about 5ft 8ins tall wearing jeans and a hooded top.

The other was white, 6ft tall, wearing jeans and a hooded top.

No weapons were used during the robbery and the women were left shaken but uninjured.

Following the crime, officers received reports of three black men attempting to sell a diamond ring to another jeweller.

They are currently investigating whether this could be connected.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for anyone who has any information about the robbery, has seen these men in Frinton either before or after the offence has taken place, or who has been offered any jewellery at a considerably reduced price, to contact detectives at Clacton CID on 0300 333 4444.”
