THE company which runs the train service which was involved in the serious rail crash this evening has said its thoughts are with those injured.
The 17.31 Sudbury to Marks Tey train service collided with a road tanker at Sewage Lane Crossing near Bures at 17.37 this evening.
Train operator National Express East Anglia said its teams are working with Network Rail and British Transport Police to manage the incident.
Andrew Chivers, managing director of National Express East Anglia, said: “Our first priority is the welfare of our passengers and traincrew. Our thoughts are with those who are injured and their families.”
Train services are being replaced by a bus service on the Sudbury - Marks Tey route for the remainder of this evening and throughout tomorrow.
