PLANNED industrial action by train drivers working for the region's rail operator has been averted following a new pay offer.

Representatives from One were in negotiations with Aslef after the union announced its train driver members would strike on six consecutive Fridays, starting this week.

It was expected to bring misery to passengers throughout East Anglia who use the London mainline from Norwich to Liverpool Street.

Aslef will now be recommending the new pay deal to its members and the planned strikes have been called off.
