The Grand Henham Steam Rally has been a firm favourite in Suffolk’s calendar for more than 40 years – and has grown into one of its biggest and best events.
The Grand Henham Steam Rally attracts thousands of visitors and preparations are in full swing for this year’s event.
Back in 1987, captured here in our series of photos, the main element was the steam traction engine display, with visitors enjoying seeing the vehicles in full steam.
It wasn’t the best of weather that year – but visitors braved the rain to enjoy a range of attractions.
Henham Park, near Southwold, is its home and this year the rally, the 43rd annual, takes place on September 16-17, from 10am to 6pm.
Over the years it has raised around £1million for local charities.
This year’s attractions will include a Monster Truck display team, vintage fairground, live music, vintage vehicles, including cars and tractors, heavy horses in action, craft stalls and trade stands.
