A 58-YEAR-old man today appeared in court accused of abducting and raping a 21-year-old woman.
Robert English, of Fiddlewood Road in Norwich, spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth when he appeared before magistrates in Bury St Edmunds.
He is accused of unlawfully and by force taking or carrying away a 21-year-old woman from the Tesco car park in London Road in Brandon on June 14.
He is also accused of unlawfully imprisoning the woman and two counts of rape.
English, who wore a grey tee-shirt and rounded glasses, was remanded in custody until July 24 when he will appear at Ipswich Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
No indication of plea has yet been made.
