DETECTIVES are tonight continuing to question a 58-year-old man into the kidnap and rape of a Suffolk woman.
The man, who was arrested in Norwich yesterday, is being held in custody at Bury St Edmunds police station on suspicion of raping a 21-year-old woman, who was abducted from Tesco car park in Brandon.
Today Bury Magistrates' Court granted a 12 hour extension for police to continue questioning him until 1pm tomorrow.
A major investigation was launched after the incident, which occurred on June 14.
The woman was called over by a man asking for assistance with heavy bags but she was then threatened with a knife and pushed inside a 4x4 truck when she tried to help.
She was driven to a remote location about 20 minutes away, where she was raped.
Anyone with information who has not already come forward is urged to call the incident room on 01473 613824.
