Rare Roman coins have been stolen from Chelmsford Museum.

The 14 gold coins were in a cabinet in the museum, in Oaklands Park, which was removed at around 9am on January 4.

They are worth a substantial amount of money and have not been recovered.

A Chelmsford man, 30, has been arrested and bailed until February 21 in connection with the theft.

Anyone with information or offered the coins for sale should call Pc Rob Bentley at Chelmsford police station on 101.
