A woman has fought off a man who attacked her demanding her mobile phone as she walked in a Suffolk village.

The attempted robbery happened in Warren Road, Red Lodge, near the junction with Boundary Road, between 7.55pm and 8.15pm on Wednesday.

The woman, who is in her thirties, was walking along the path with her mobile phone in her hand, when she was approached by a man who had shouted at her to give him the phone.

She refused and the suspect then tried to grab the phone and struck her to the head, but the victim managed to kick out in self-defence and the offender then let go of the phone and ran off.

The suspect is described as a being between 5ft 9in to 6ft tall, wearing a dark zip up hooded top with a dark cap worn underneath, and dark trousers and black/navy trainers.
