FIVE people and a child had to be rescued after their speedboat started taking on water off the Essex coast.
The drama unfolded just before 1pm today off Clacton beach.
The local beach patrol and Clacton lifeboat were sent to help the 19ft speedboat.
One adult and the child were taken off the boat by the beach patrol.
A pump was then used to keep the water down and the vessel was towed back to Point Clear.
