Two rescue teams were called out on Thursday evening following reports that a van had become stuck off the causeway at Osea Island in Essex.
South Woodham Costguard Rescue Team and the West Mersea RNLI Inshore Lifeboat were sent to the scene just after 7.35pm.
The coastguard team assisted while a tractor was brought to the scene to help pull the vehicle, which had one occupant, to safety by 8.45pm
