Ipswich Borough Council has reminded residents of changes to bin collections over Christmas until Tuesday, January 2 to cope with the Christmas and new year demand.

Due to the additional blue bin loads, no brown bins will be collected between Christmas Day and January 8.

The blue bin collections will also move a day later from usual collections, meaning those whose normal collection day would fall on Wednesday will have it collected on Thursday instead, Thursday to Friday and Friday to Saturday.

The revised rota remains in place until Tuesday, January 2 when it returns to normal.

Real Christmas trees can be put out for collection with brown bins on the week of January 8.

A borough council spokesman said: “Residents recycle a lot more over Christmas, with packaging and wrapping from all those presents so that is why we make blue bins our priority.”
