Former Ipswich schoolboy Richard Ayoade will be featured at this year’s Latitude Festival, it has been announced.

Mr Ayoade, who moved to Ipswich as a youngster, is best known for his roles in programmes such as the IT Crowd and The Crystal Maze.

The actor and filmmaker will be in conversation with TV and film critic Mark Kermode at the event.

Also announced for this year’s festival was British pop and R&B singer MNEK who will be releasing his debut album later this year.

London based band Black Midi, LA rock-duo Deap Vally as well as Talos and rock group Bethlehem Casuals will also be playing at the event.

Over 500 acts have already been announced across 15 stages at the festival.

Organisers say there is still one “iconic secret act” yet to be revealed for the event.

A number of big name headliners have already been announced for Latitude including The Killers, Alt-J and Solange as well as comedians Harry Hill and Bridget Christie.

As well as national and international musicians many Suffolk artists will be taking to the stage including Pianofield, Pop Chorus, Piers James, Caswell and Highest House.

Food will play a key role in this year’s Latitude with London’s Street Feast bringing around 80 vendors with a range of specialities to Suffolk.

If your interests lie more in learning about food then chefs, food authors and culinary gurus including Food Writer of the Year Felicity Cloake will be taking part in the first-ever UK Theatre of Food.

A number of radio programmes and podcasts will be recording special editions at Latitude including former Labour leader Ed Miliband and colleague Geoff Lloyd who will be hosting their award- winning “Reasons to be Cheerful” podcast.

Jessie Ware will also be recording her chart-topping podcast Table Manners during the weekend.

BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time Camper Van will be open from 2pm until 4pm on Friday July 13 hosting a drop in clinic for visitors to ask questions one-on-one.

Day tickets for Saturday sold out quicker than any year before though other tickets remain for the weekend.
