A lorry which caught fire on the A14 near Risby was towed to Ingham to allow crews to tackle the blaze.

Three fire crews from Bury St Edmunds were called to the westbound carriageway at 9.47pm last night to the large goods vehicle on fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reels initially began to fight the blaze.

But they then used a recovery vehicle to take the truck to Ingham where the lorry was unloaded to allow fire crews to tackle the base of the blaze.

The incident was under control by 4.52am.

In total nine sets of breathing apparatus were worn, plus a further covering hose reel used, in efforts to extinguish the fire.
