A LORRY driver was taken to hospital after his vehicle overturned at a busy roundabout, leaving the road closed.

Drivers faced delays after a lorry overturned at a busy junction today, leaving the driver in hospital and the road closed.

The lorry overturned shortly before 8am at the roundabout of Sudbury Road, Melford Road and Springlands Way in Sudbury.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Colchester Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

Recovery crews closed the roundabout for several hours to empty the lorry and clear it from the road, leaving drivers to find alternative routes avoiding the Sudbury Road. The road re-opened at approximately 2.45pm.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
