Traffic heading west on the A14 has been delayed after a car was in collision with a cow that had strayed on to the busy road near the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border.
The accident happened on Sunday morning near the junction for Newmarket and Cambridge at Stow-cum-Quy, closing part of the westbound carriageway.
Traffic built up along the road back as far as the junction with the A11 at the end of the Newmarket by-pass.
The road was cleared towards the end of the morning and it is understood there were no serious injuries in the accident despite the serious congestion that it caused during the morning.
