Motorists using the A133 Cowdray Avenue in Colchester are being warned they could face delays due to essential bridge repairs.

Works will be carried out during the Easter weekend, from midnight on Friday, March 30 until 5am on Tuesday, April 3,

Lane restrictions will be operating, but one lane in each direction will be open at all times. Essex County Council is asking drivers to allow extra time for their journey, but pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge during the repair works.

As the work is being carried out near the railway line, rail replacement bus services will be in place between Colchester and Hythe from March 31 to April 2. These will connect with an amended service operating between Clacton and Colchester Town.

The bridge repair works involve removing concrete and treating corroded reinforcements, and repairs to ornamental parapets.
