A west Suffolk village is facing four weeks of roadworks as drainage improvements are carried out by Suffolk Highways.
The scheme will take place along The Street in Assington, near Sudbury, from Barracks Road to the Victory Estate.
The project involves the installation of 100 metres of drainage pipework, 10 new gullies, four new soakaways, new kerb offlets and ditch clearance works.
Work began today and is expected to continue for four weeks and will be carried out week days from around 7am until 4.30pm each day.
Suffolk Highways said the road will be under 24-hour continuous closure for the duration of the works, and access to properties and businesses will be available but will be controlled by staff on site.
In a letter to residents, the department said on-street parking will be restricted to allow work to take place.
During the period of the closure, traffic will be diverted via: The Street, Assington – A134, Leavenheath – Winston Road – Bures Road – Clicket Hill – Nayland Road, Bures – Sudbury Road, Bures – Cuckoo Hill, Bures and vice versa.
