Roadworks for the coming week will bring full and partial closures to major roads in Suffolk and Essex including the A14, A12, and A120. Full list below.

Highways England announced its planned works for Monday-Sunday, which it said had been arranged to cause as little disruption possible.

A12 Junction 32B Capel St Mary, Suffolk: safety fence replacement

Work to improve safety on the A12 at begins this week. Lane closures will be in place east and westbound Monday to Friday 8pm to 6am from Friday 1 December for two weeks.

A14 junction 31 Girton, Cambridgeshire: surveying

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A14 westbound to the M11 northbound/A14 westbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 27 November for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A428 and the A1198 to re-join the A14.

A14 westbound Kentford to Newmarket, Suffolk: carriageway repairs

Overnight maintenance work to restore sections of the westbound A14 between Kentford and Newmarket continues until 28 November. Working hours are 8pm to 6am on weekdays overnight only, weather permitting. Overnight this week, the inside 2 lanes of the A14 will be closed between Kentford and Newmarket.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is well underway. Regular lane or carriageway closures are needed on the A1, A14 and some local roads, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures. For this week, the planned closures are:

Full closures:

Monday 27 November to Friday 1 December (five nights):

A1 southbound between Alconbury and Brampton;

A signed diversion will be in place. Drivers will be diverted south on the A14 link road to Spittals interchange, then west on the A14 to Brampton Hut to re-join the A1.

A1 Northbound between Buckden and Alconbury;

A signed diversion will be in place. Vehicles will be diverted east along the A428, north on the A1198 and then west on the A14 to re-join the A1.

Monday 27 November to Friday 1 December

A1 southbound between junction 15 and junction 14, lanes 2,3 and 4 closed.

A1 northbound between Little Paxton and Buckden, lane 2 closed

A14 westbound between junction34 and junction 31, lane 1 closed.

Monday 27 November (one night)

A14 westbound, between junction 21 and junction 20, lane 1 closed.

Wednesday 29 November (one night)

A14 westbound, between junction 21 and junction 20, lane 1 closed.

A14 Junction 40 to Junction 43 eastbound

Work to reconstruct and resurface the dual carriageway between junctions 40 and 43 continues this week. Full eastbound closures are required weeknights only between 8pm and 6am until 19 January. During the work, there will be a clearly signed diversion route in place via the A1304 towards the A11, and then onto A1101, back to the A14 junction 43.

A14 Orwell to Junction 62

Work to resurface the concrete carriageway between Orwell and Levington; and the carriageway inlay between Levington and Junction 62 continues this week. The work is being carried out between 9pm and 6am each night (Monday to Friday). The work is being carried out in sections, requiring junction closures on the A14 between Orwell and Junction 62. Signed diversion routes will be in place for each of the junction closures.

A14 Suffolk: barrier repairs

Work to repair accident-damaged safety barriers will take place this week at various locations along short sections of the A14 through Suffolk. There will be single lane closures past the section being worked on from Monday to Friday overnight between 8.30pm and 6am.

A14 Suffolk: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing vegetation along the A14 verges westbound between Felixstowe and Newmarket. Lane closures will be in place past the section being worked on overnight, between 8pm and 6am, with works finishing 21 December.

A14 Cambridgeshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing vegetation along the A14 verges westbound between Newmarket and Thrapston. Lane closures will be in place past the section being worked on overnight, between 8pm and 6am until 6 December, weather permitting.

A47 Great Yarmouth: resurfacing and sign renewal

Work to resurface and renew signs along the A47 carriageway between Vauxhall roundabout and William Adams Way roundabout will take place from Wednesday 29 November until Monday 4 December between 8pm and 6am on weeknights. There will be a full carriageway closure and a signed diversion will be in place.

A47 Kings Lynn to Swaffham outine maintenance and investigation surveys

Work to repair the single carriageway section between East Winch and Narborough starts this week. The road will be closed from the A47/A10 Hardwick roundabout to the A47/A1122 roundabout between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only for 5 nights weather permitting. Traffic wishing to head eastbound will be diverted via the A10, A143 and A1122, with westbound traffic heading the opposite direction

A47 Norfolk: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing vegetation along the A47 verges continues this week between Swaffham and Wansford. Mobile lane closures will be in place past the section being worked on overnight, between 8pm and 6am, until Monday 4 December, weather permitting.

A47 King’s Lynn, Norfolk: bridge repair works

Work to repair and replace joints on the Saddlebow bridge over the A47 at King’s Lynn started on Monday 23 October for approximately six months. Saddlebow bridge will be closed to vehicles during this time and a clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

A120 Essex: barrier repairs

Work to repair accident-damaged safety barriers will take place this week at various locations along short sections of the A120 through Essex. There will be single lane closures past the section being worked on from Monday to Friday overnight between 8.30pm and 6am only.

A120 Hare Green roundabout, Harwich Road: safety improvements

Site investigations and vegetation clearance work will continue throughout the week. There will be traffic management on site but this will have no impact on any road users. A120 Essex: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing vegetation along the A120 verges east and westbound between Birchanger and Braintree. Lane closures will be in place past the section being worked on overnight, between 8pm and 6am until 14 December, weather permitting.

A120 Braintree to Marks Tey, Essex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway, replacing signs, renewing road markings and vegetation clearance continues this week. The road will be closed on weeknights only between 9pm and 6am until 15 December. A fully signed diversion route will be in place via the A131 and A12.

A1 (M) Stibbington to Junction 17: carriageway repairs

Work to repair the off slip along the A1 (M) southbound carriageway between Stibbington and junction 17 will take place on Friday 1 December between 8pm and 6am. There will be a full carriageway closure and a signed diversion will be in place.

A1 (M) Junction 17 to Stibbington: resurfacing and sign renewal

Work to resurface and renew signs along the A1 (M) northbound carriageway between junction 17 and Stibbington will take place from Monday 20 November until Wednesday 6 December between 8pm and 6am on weeknights. There will be a full carriageway closure and a signed diversion will be in place.

A1 Junction 7 to junction 6 Southbound drainage

Works are continuing here on Monday 27 November with a full closure of the A1 southbound and a lane 2 closure Northbound. Works are planned to be finished in 1 night. A signed diversion route will be in place. The works are to do some surveys and to replace the broken drainage system. We will also be replacing about 200 metres of old barrier.

A1 Junction 7 to Junction 8 Northbound resurfacing

Works will be starting here on Monday 27 November, Works will be to resurface parts of the carriageway on the Northbound carriageway from Junction 7 to Junction 8 and are planned to be completed in 4 midweek night shifts between 9pm and 6am each night. A signed diversion route will be in place from junction 7 to 8.

A1 Junction 8 to junction 7 Southbound for resurfacing

Works are starting here on Thursday 30 November with a full closure of the A1 southbound from junction 8 to junction 7 and are planned to be completed in 4 midweek night shifts. A signed diversion route will be in place from junction 8 to junction 7.
