Two men accused of attempting to rape a woman denied following her through Ipswich and attacking her during questioning by police.
Police interviews with George-hari Constantinescu and Danut Gheorghie following their arrests were read to a jury at Ipswich Crown Court today during the second week of the men’s trial. Constantinescu and Gheorghie, both 30, of Farnham Road, Blaxhall, have denied attempted rape and an alternative charge of sexual assault.
The court has heard that the victim of the alleged attack was walking along Rope Walk just before 3.30am on February 25 when she heard two men running behind her. One allegedly put his hands over her mouth and she was bundled into a car park. During the alleged attack she suffered injuries and lost consciousness and when she came round she was naked from the waist down.
The defence case is expected to start tomorrow.
