Ipswich boss Roy Keane firmly dismissed rumours today that his beloved dog Triggs had died.

The Irishman, who enjoyed watching his team’s success at home to Cardiff on Saturday, rubbished speculation that the golden labrador had lost a battle to cancer.

When asked about reports of Triggs’ demise, Keane responded: “The stories in the paper about my dog are not true. My dog is still alive.

“What paper was that in? Did you check the date on it? Lies, and lies and lies. Unbelievable! But nothing surprises me.”

Keane was famously pictured walking Triggs after quitting the Republic of Ireland World Cup team following a row with then-coach Mick McCarthy in 2002.
