ADAM Roynon will have his first competitive outing for more nearly two years when he rides in Scunthorpe's Christmas Cracker meeting.

The Great Britain Under 21 star, who has been named in Peterborough's 2010 line-up as a doubling-up rider, missed the whole of last season after a freak crash during the national side's pre-season training camp.

He spent a week in the intensive care unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, with head and neck injuries but has now made a complete recovery.

He's already been back on a bike but Sunday will be the first time he has raced in a competitive meeting since his accident.

Panthers' team boss Trevor Swales and Director of Speedway Peter Oakes are planning to make the trip to the Lincolnshire track to run the rule over the new recruit.

Swales said: “It's good that Adam is getting in some riding before the start of next season.

“We don't expect a lot of him because he has to ease his way back in but it will be good to see him going to the tapes in a competitive race again.”

Roynon, 21, hasn't actually raced since the end of May, 2008, when he broke his leg riding for Birmingham at Rye House. He missed the final five months of the season but returned to action at the GB camp last March.
