Burglars have raided a house in Clays Road, Walton.
Entry was gained through the kitchen between 10.45pm last night and 6.50am this morning.
Keys to a safe were found and a number of items stolen including two cheque books, a wallet containing a four-figure sum of cash, a 24-inch metal chain, a passport and a full sovereign ring.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Alison Cotter at Clacton police station on 101.
