If Santa’s sleigh breaks down this Christmas he has nothing to fair as more than 80 back-ups proved their fitness with a 3km run in aid of charity.

Fundraisers donned the iconic red and white suit for the event around North Colchester Business Centre for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

They were joined by babies in pushchairs and even a dog for the run, held on Friday afternoon, much to the bemusement of workers in surrounding offices.

A group warm-up was held to prepare the Santas for the challenge.

More than £2,000 has been raised for EACH so far from the event.

Abigail Roberts, EACH Essex fundraiser, said: “Everyone had a great time. We had lots of teams from different businesses signing up which is always great for a fun, competitive, and festive atmosphere.”
