A bus firm has said it is “shocked” and “embarrassed” that one of its vehicles was stopped for reportedly speeding on a rural road with 60 schoolchildren on board.

A spokesman for Konectbus apologised to passengers after discovering one of its vehicles had been pulled over on the A144 near Spexhall, near Halesworth on Friday afternoon.

It is not known how fast the bus was going, but it was travelling in a 30mph limit area.

A tweet from Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing read: “#RCRT stopped this bus with about 60 pupils aboard #speeding on the school run in a 30mph limit on #A144 #Spexhall #Halesworth.”

A spokesman for Konectbus said: “Konectbus is shocked to hear of this incident.

“We proactively monitor and manage our drivers’ standards, and are embarrassed that this is not evident in this case. We would like to apologise to our customers and the local community.”
