A 15-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl was raped near a Suffolk skateboard park after she had been binge-drinking, it has been alleged.

The girl had drunk an alco-pop and almost half a litre of vodka after going out with a friend in Brandon while her parents were away, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Matthew Gowen, prosecuting, described the girl as being “very drunk”.

He said that during the evening the girl had become separated from her friend and was found later in the evening near a skateboard park by her sister who became alarmed when she did not answer her mobile phone.

“She found her sister lying on her back on the floor. Her top was rolled up, her jacket, shoes, trousers and knickers had been removed and were scattered around her. She was covered in mud from top to toe,” said Mr Gowen.

He said that when she tried to move her sister she was “floppy” and making groaning noises.

The girl later complained to the police that she had been raped by 18-year-old Dean Royal.

Royal of Thetford Road, Brandon, has denied raping the girl in January last year and an alternative offence of sexually assaulting her.

Mr Gowen told the court that on the evening in question the girl and one of her friends had given a youth £20 to buy them some alcohol.

They had then gone to some swings at the local leisure centre with a number of local youths and the alleged victim drank an alco-pop and then swigged down half the bottle of vodka before it was handed round to other members of the group.

During the evening the alleged victim became separated from her friend and, when her friend went looking for her near the skateboard park Royal had allegedly told her rudely to go away.

After the alleged victim was found, the police were called and she later claimed she had been raped by Royal. A medical examination took place but had to be stopped when the girl became too upset for it to continue.

Giving evidence via a TV link, the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said she had felt weird after drinking the vodka. “I was at the swings and then remember him (Royal) on top of me,” she said.

She said she tried to push him off her and kept calling out for her friend. She said she had been a virgin and had not wanted to have sex with Royal.

The girl denied a suggestion from defence counsel Steven Dyble that she had sex with Royal and had then regretted it in the cold light of day and claimed she had been raped because she thought she would get into trouble.

The trial continues today.
