People in east Suffolk are being invited to sessions to learn more about plans for two huge new windfarms off the county’s coast.

ScottishPower Renewables anticipates consent applications being submitted for East Anglia TWO in 2019 and East Anglia ONE North in 2020, and that the windfarms could be generating electricity by 2026 and 2027 respectively.

The first sessions will be held on Saturday at the Victoria Hotel, Lowestoft, from 10am to 1pm and Stella Peskett Hall, Southwold, from 3pm to 6pm. On Sunday, the team will be at the United Church, Leiston, from 10am to 1pm.

On March 24, sessions will be held at Thorpeness Country Club, 10am to 1pm, and Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh, 3pm to 6pm, and then on March 25 at Orford Town Hall, 10am to 1pm.

David Walker, Development Director at ScottishPower Renewables, said: ““Over the past eight years we have been consistent in our approach to regularly meeting with communities and stakeholders in East Anglia to share information about our offshore windfarms projects. We believe that our two new proposed projects will help to deliver further environmental and economic benefits for the region.

“We would like to hear from as many people possible during this early development phase as feedback from local communities is important in shaping our plans. All views and comments that are made during the consultation are taken in to consideration as the projects progress.”

East Anglia ONE North will have a capacity of 800 megawatts (MW) and East Anglia TWO could be up to 900 MW. The projects follow-on from the 714 MW East Anglia ONE scheme that is currently in construction and the 1,200 MW East Anglia THREE, which received planning consent last year.
