POLICE searching for missing prostitute Tania Nicol carried out anniversary checks last night in the area she disappeared.

The 19-year-old is one of two young vice girls to have vanished in Ipswich and has now been missing for three weeks.

Officers spent last night and the early hours of the morning stopping pedestrians and vehicles in the Handford Road and Burlington Road areas of Ipswich - known to have been frequented by Tania - in a bid to find information to help their investigation.

She left her home in Woolverstone Close, Ipswich, at about 10.30pm on Monday, October 30, with the intention of going into town to work as a prostitute.

It is understood that Tania planned to catch a bus from Belmont Road. CCTV footage from buses has been checked but to date officers have not been able to trace whether Tania did do this.

Detectives have reviewed CCTV footage from the town and there is a positive sighting of Tania walking in front of the exit of Sainsbury's garage on London Road at 11.02pm on Monday, October 30.

The image shows her walking in the direction of the town centre.

Concern mounted on Wednesday last week after Gemma Adams, 25, failed to return home after also heading into town to work as a prostitute.

Gemma, of Blenheim Road, Ipswich, had walked into town with her partner. He left her at about 10pm in Bramford Road, near to Victoria Street, but when she failed to arrive home as normal he reported her missing to police at 2.55am.

Officers have carried out enquiries with Miss Adams' friends and family and have checked areas where she is known to frequent. So far, they have no leads to go on.

Miss Nicol is described as mixed race (white European and black African), 5ft 2ins tall and of slim build with shoulder length light brown hair, brown eyes and a spotty complexion.

The last time she was seen she was wearing a light coloured top, mid blue cut-off jeans and pink high-heeled boots.

Miss Adams is described as white, 5ft 2ins tall, of slim build with long blond hair, which was worn down, and she has a spotted complexion.

She was last seen wearing a black waterproof waist length jacket with a hood and a zip up the front, light blue jeans with studs on the pockets, a red top and white and chrome Nike trainers.

She has several gold earrings in each ear, silver rings on both hands, and she wears a black watch. She was also carrying a black handbag.
