A YOUNG man is facing a lengthy jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to killing a teenager in a seaside town.
Mark Brewer had denied murdering 18-year-old Dominic Barritt who died after he was attacked in Walton on the Naze in the early hours of August 23.
But the 22-year-old from Walthamstow pleaded guilty to manslaughter when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court today.
Mr Barritt, a trainee bricklayer, suffered fatal head injuries following the incident outside the Food and Drink Store in the town's High Street.
He was initially taken to Colchester General Hospital before being transferred to Queen's Hospital in Romford which specialises in head injured.
He died two days later with his mother at his bedside.
His family have said how the killing has “ripped their lives apart”.
Brewer, of Fairlop Road, Walthamstow has been remanded in custody and sentencing is due to take place in February.
