A second teenager arrested on suspicion of arson after a blaze at Exning Primary School last week has been released on police bail.

The girl, 17, was arrested yesterday and questioned by officers.

It followed a fire at the school in the early hours of last Friday, which destroyed a shed as well as a classroom in the main building – which dates back to the 19th Century.

The girl must answer police bail on September 26.

A 16-year-old girl was also arrested in connection with the blaze on Saturday, and she has been released on bail until September 18 while detectives continue their investigation.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information about this incident, is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 quoting reference NE/15/1501.
