TWO people who had to be cut free from a car crash wreckage in west Suffolk tonight have suffered serious injuries, paramedics have said.

Collision investigators are currently at the scene of the smash on the A1065 Brandon Road at Barton Mills, following a horror crash at 7pm.

One person is said to be fighting for their life tonight in Addenbrookes' Hospital, while the other motorist who was freed by firefighters has suffered serious injuries.

A further person involved in the incident in the other car has been taken to RAF Lakenheath medical unit with minor injuries. It is believed they are an American service person.

The A1065 is shut down to all traffic tonight while detailed investigations get underway into how the crash occurred.

A silver Renault Megane and a green Honda Civic were involved in the collision. The two occupants of the Renault were trapped in their vehicle and had to be cut free by fire crews who took the roof off.

Paramedics at the scene have indicated at least one of the injured motorists is thought to have sustained life threatening chest injuries.
