A COMMUTER has been sexually assaulted by a jogger as she walked home after work.

The woman, in her 30s, was attacked as she made her way from Chelmsford train station shortly before 6pm on January 27 following a day of work in London.

Essex Police released details of the offence today and are hoping members of the public may be able to help.

The woman was walking along a cycle path between Arbour Lane and Stump Lane when the man approached her from behind and indecently assaulted her.

The victim eventually managed to fend off the man who then fled.

The woman was not injured but was left in a state of shock by her ordeal.

PC Ryan Daniels said: “This cycle path runs adjacent to the railway line and is used by quite a few people.

“We think this man was jogging as the woman did see him run past several times before he lunged at her.

“We are looking to anyone who may have seen this jogger or may recognise him from the description.”

The attacker was white, in his late 20s or 30s and was about 5ft 8ins and medium to heavy build.

His hair was cropped and he was wearing a navy blue tracksuit and sweatshirt.
